Influenza is a common illness that directly affects our respiratory system. It is caused by A/B viruses. But... How do we know if we have Influenza? How does it develop?

This virus, known as the "flu" is really contagious. It is an epidemic, infectious and acute desease beacuse it affecvts many people for a short period of time, it is caused by a pathogenic microorganism, and it manifests quickly and last a short time.

this infectious desease develops in three stages:

1. Incubation stage:

this incubation period is between 1-4 days.Most healthy adults may be able to infect other begining one day, before symthomps develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming. Peopl with inmune system, might be able to infect others for a even longer time.

2.Manifestation stage:

When te fever aches, chills,tiredness,sudden anset and all the sympthoms and sings appeared.

3.Convalescence stage:

This is when all the sympthoms has disappeared and we have to take all the pills, the doctor tell us the rest.

Influenza virus attacks the body by spreading through the upper and/or lower respiratory tract.

The flu viruses pass through the air and enter to your body through your nose or mouth.
it has to pass the structural, biotermical,mechanical and ecological barriers.

Between 5% and 20% of people in the U.S. get the flu each year. the flu can be serious or even deadly for elderly people,new born babies,and people with certain chronic illnesses.

this virus has caused a lot of epidemics through the history.
the first convincing record of an influenza pandemic was of an outbreak in 1880, which beganh in Russia and spread to Europe and Africa.

The first significant step forwards preventing influenza was the development in 1944 of a killed-virus vaccine for influenza by Thomas Francis
